Dusty the Troopy

Meet my home on wheels.

After the whole dilemma with the Prado I decided to get a car that more suited my life style and travelling needs. As much as I loved that roof top tent, in reality as a lady travelling by herself, sleeping inside the car seemed like the safer option.

So along came Dusty. She is a 1996 Landcruiser Troop Carrier and is as basic as they come. No annoying alarms when you haven't got your seatbelt on, no automatic anything. The only thing I do miss is the cruise control (my poor over worked right foot agrees)

The troopy came with duel batterys, snorkel, roof racks and a draw system set up in the back.

I needed to do a little bit of work on her before heading off. So along came my amazing family members who helped me install new leaf suspension with a 2 1/2 inch lift, rotors, brakes, steering ball joints, stereo, UHF and Ariel, replace all the oils, install solar panels, the comfiest bed EVER, fridge and shower.

One of the most important aspects when travelling remote Australia is to be fully self sufficient that is why I carry 60 litres of water, an 80 litre Waceo fridge/freezer and  160w solar panels. The solar panels charge my second battery which powers the fridge, charges my camera, phone and laptop.

If you have any questions about the gear I carry or have any suggestions please feel free to contact us.
